Mexican Amberwing Dragonflies Mosaic Mirror

Mosaic dragonflies with shimmering copper/amber metallic wings flitter around this graceful oval mirror. The metallic tiles were manufactured in California of an extremely dense ceramic tile. The background mosaics are of periwinkle blue water lilies with bright yellow and turquoise centers. The body of each mosaic dragonfly is made of silk screened tile in rich hues of amber.

This oval beveled glass mirror is set deep into the frame and the overall thickness of the frame is 1 1/2 inches. Five scallops on each edge add grace and elegance to the overall form. The mosaic patterns flow over both the outer and inner sides of the frame for continuity of design. For very clean edges, bullnose tiles are used along the adjoining lines where the surface meets the sides.

This mosaic mirror was awarded third place in the juried competition for 'Fine Craft' at the  2004 Expo New Mexico State Fair and was part of the three week exhibition in the Fine Art Gallery.
